Blockchain Network as a Platform: Conceptualising its Adapted Layered Architecture Design

Digital platform as an organising logic has prominently reshaped the innovation activities in many sectors. Previous studies have extensively investigated digital platforms from two views: economic view (i.e., a sided marketplace) and engineering infrastructure). Blockchain---a artefact that connects distributed ledgers, resembles great overlaps specifics to platforms. Building on this aspect, I first demarcate Blockchain Product Platform (BPaaP) informed by Network (BNaaP) inspired view. Given scant of research around BNaaP, aims depict BNaaP’s architectural design drawing layered technologies. Using PingAn Group case, applies thematic analysis method analysing online open data. As main contribution, proposes Adapted Layered Architecture BNaaP consists 1) three layers(foundation layer, interaction application layer); 2) adapted business scenarios; 3) environmental factors. The suggested implies internal synergistic collaboration among layers external adaptability different contexts. Overall, provides novel angle understand phenomenon brings insightful implications practitioners.
